2018 was the second year I ran this race and boy did we have different conditions. The 28 degree temperatures meant I had to completely reevaluate my race goals. After finishing just outside 4 hours last year I was planning this year to slow down much more and have a leisurely run. As the midday heat took hold it seemed I wasnt the only one as pretty much everyone around me was walking, or at least run / walking the back half.

Nevertheless it was still a great event with fantastic support. It was a  great help to have the spectating kids squirting runners with their waterpistols as well as handing out extra treats.

Whilst Milton Keynes may not provide the most spectacular location for a mararthon, the route does maximise every possible opportunity to take in the highlights of the local area including numerous parks, lakes and even concrete cows. However what really does make this marathon is the crowds and support all the way around the course.
