This was my first marathon, which unfortunately fell on the hottest bank holiday Monday on record (I think around 28 degrees!) 

After London hit the high temperatures, I was hoping that MK would be prepared. Unfortunately they weren’t, and there was no extra water stations provided on the course or no water showers. The great local support were encouraged to bring out water pistols and hoses, which really saved the day! I will add that the existing water stations were every 3 miles (and one was positioned 4 miles between which was too far..) were well manned with great attentive volunteers! 

Aside from that, the course itself was picturesque but full of inclines. The elevations were hard, especially over the last 3-4 miles on the return to the stadium (but this would have been exacerbated by the heat) 

The stadium finish was very special! Although you then had to walk up stairs to collect your medal.. But it was a very nice medal to collect! 

The goody bag was very disappointing, and almost unnecessary with what you actually got in it. 

Overall, I would recommend the event but it does need some tweaks to improve the experience
