← MK Marathon Weekend

Brutally hot day, and temps reached above 27 degrees when I hit 15 miles. Despite this, the marshalls were genuinely fantastic in ensuring the safety of the runners on the course. I found that there was plenty of water, and they encouraged runners to use discarded bottles to pour over ourselves and leave tghe fresher bottles for drinking. The residents on the course also came out in force with hoses and water pistols. Without these two things I feel many people would not have been able to finish.

The stadium finish is superb, and the arrangements inside seemed to be great, although I didn't need the bag drop. I put 5/5 for natural scenery as all I knew of MK was it was just a big concrete square, however the route went through some picturesque villages, country parks and along the riverside.

The only thing that i would like to see for next year is a shuttle bus from the car parks to the stadium. The walk is fairly long to get to the start from the National Bowl, and seems even further after you have run a marathon.

Overall though it is a great race, with the organisers and social media teams doing a brilliant job in the weeks leading up to the event and on the day.
