Wow! What can I say?

As we all know, London marathon isn't the easiest race to enter..

The popularity of this event is incredible and now I know why.

I took charity place after my twin brother gained a club place.

Raising £1,600 isn't easy and this was one of the cheaper charity options.

Race numbers were collection only and had to be picked up from the expo.

Expo itself was massive. There was a good atmosphere, with plenty to do.

Pre-race information was plentyful with emails, text messages and iphone app, keeping runners informed.

Getting to start line was simple enough. I worried about it beforehand but the London public transport network is excellent. This made it simple and trouble-free.

We had to use bag provided for the baggage store. It was large enough for most, so it wasn't an issue.

The race itslef was absolutely amazing.

I have never known crowd support like it.

At times it was quite deafening.

I had heard it can get a bit congested on the course but it wasn't too bad at all. Maybe, the staggered start helped.

Aid stations were regular. In fact, I have never known so many in one race. Most contained water, whilst others contained enegy drinks and gels. There were also showers at various points of the course to keep runners cool in the very hot conditions.

Route saw runners visit various iconic landmarks. It really did feel like we were part of something special.

Finishers were rewarded with a chunky silver medal (it would've been better if it was gold), water, various items to eat, and a great looking finisher's shirt.

Recoving bag from baggage store was quick and simple. Full marks there.

In summary -

London is without doubt, the best race I have ever done.

I think it's race that everybody should try do at least once.

Marshals were awesome, water stations were well stocked & regular. The baggage store and everything else, worked like clockwork.

Crowd support was absolutely incredible.

Entry is obviously very difficult.

GFA, ballot or charity places all present problems but I think it's worth the effort and expense.

Thank you London.

It was the perfect day.
