← Vale of York 5M & 10M

I've heard good things about this race in the past, but this is the first time I've run it.

Registration was simple, but the briefing on the day was not clear. You simply couldn't hear the briefing due to the amount of people. What I soon realised, is that the start was being delayed due to the length of the queue at the toilet, apparently the same happened in 2017 as well. I firmly believe that if a race is advertised to start at 09:30, it should start at 09:30...! (Unless exceptional circumstances - queuing for a wee isn't one of them).

Once we got going, the first mile was on a runway before out and along country lanes. The roads were all closed so very safe. The field soon spread out but there was always someone around you. Upon returning to the finish line, the crowd was quite large and the finishers were all cheered over the line. The goody bag contained a medal and tshirt along with a chocolate biscuit. Not really a fan of tshirts, but this is a really nice one!

The only slight drawback of the day was the queue to leave the car park, it was through a gate onto a single track, which took 45 minutes. (Only took 55 minutes to drive 35 miles home!!)

All in all, a really good event which I would do again.
