First time running the 10 mile race. Parking was pretty chaotic and on terrible surface, felt for my car trying to avoid potholes. Needed more marshalls along the parking strip. Once parked up the setting is great. Long walk/jog down to start area as a warm up, through the farmyard with calves and lambs which opens up into a play area and the start area. The course starts on a narrowish trail before coming out onto the roads. Not too bad but if had been wet wouldn't have been good. I enjoyed the rest of the course with gentle hills to break up the flat. All in all a great morning was had and have said would definitely do it again !! Good to have a choice as to whether to have a medal or t-shirt as well.

Liked the new parking arrangements and the walk through the farmyard.It was lovely to see the calves and lambs. Also preferred not starting on the runway (boring!). The marshals and other runners were friendly and encouraging. As someone who finishes near the end, it was good to have people cheering me in at the finish rather than being busy packing up! Really enjoyed the run. Thank you.

Lovely run out in the vale of York.

First mile is a bit boring out on the airfield but after that stunning countryside. Fab Marshall's, drink stops in the right place and some left for us slower runners.

My only criticism would be the organisation at the start, folk queued in one long line instead of realizing that they need to be in lines for their surname. Queue for toilets was long, folk seem to leave it to the last minute to queue which meant the start was delayed. 

Great t-shirt and medal. Would do it again. 

Enjoyable event which I was keen to do after pulling out at 2 miles due to injury! Although I was taking it steady, this course has great PB potential with only very small inclines. Lovely closed roads, entirely on tarmac and well-marshalled. Event photography was particularly good. Great tshirt and medal. As last year, the start was delayed due to large toilet queues, but the queues did move quickly and marshalls were on hand to speed up the process of vacant portaloo spotting. Getting out of the airfield at the end involved a fairly long queue, but again, organisers did all they could to direct traffic back out onto the road. A great event; highly recommended.

This is the 4th time ive taken part in this 10 mile race. It starts on a runway, then out onto country closed roads. Its mainly flat route. Its well organised, the support from the marshalls along the route is outstanding. The medal and t shirt is really nice this year. Would certainly recommend this event. Looking forward to doing it again in 2020.

First time done this race and thoroughly enjoyed it. Travelled from Newcastle and left around 7.15 leaving plenty of time to collect numbers. Lots of parking spaces and easy to find the registration.. collected bib without fuss. Back to car and added number then headed off for a toilet break.. rather large queue but went down quickly as lots of portables. Just made it to the start on time, nestling in between the 1.30 & 1.40 pacer flags and although there was a few minutes delay it was not an issue. The siren went and we headed down the runway into a rather chilly wind. Turn around, back down the runway then head into the village.. closures on all roads so no issues with traffic. Route well marshalled and fairly flat.. a few slow slopes but no vertical climbs which is always a bonus! The run seemed to be over pretty fast.. from about mile 3 it loops round the villages and then meets back up around mile 8 to head back to gliding centre. Chip timed so a sprint finish was a must haha Soon as i crossed the line i was handed a much needed kit kat.. then water and a fab medal plus a well designed and good quality t shirt! Very good value for money and will return Managed to keep the 1.30 flag in site and bagged a 28 second pb finishing in 1:31:55

CON #1:

Toilets. Lack thereof. The queue for the portaloos was extraordinarily long, which delayed the race start by ten minutes. There was a lot of grumbling about this. I am told there was the same issue the year previous. I would highly recommend at least twice the number of portaloos for next year in order to avoid a repeat performance. Toilet access is one of the things that many runners consider before signing up to a race.

On a positive note, there were a couple of marshalls with a big bag of loo rolls handing them out to anyone who went into a portaloo that had run out, so noone had to go without.

CON #2:

After having a great time during the race and collecting my goody bag, I made my way over to my car and drove off to go home, but was almost immediately met by the end of the car queue. The exit is through a single track, and the car queue was so long that people were taking photos of it. It took 30 minutes to get out of the race location onto an actual road. I don't know how this could be improved, but perhaps a very clear warning in advance to all race participants would be helpful, so that anyone travelling is able to take into account the delay. I recall reading something that said it can be tricky leaving, but a very black and white statement would be helpful.

Overall, a really great race with lots of positives that I will do again if the toilet situation is rectified!

This is the 3rd time I’ve run in this event. 

Even though the race was delayed today, and  the race briefing couldn’t really be heard, the event was still enjoyable.

The course is mainly flat with the 1st mile completed on the runway then out along closed country roads, with  marshals cheering the runners along the way.

The finishers medal and t shirt are well worth it.

The downside at the end was trying to get out of the car park.

Would recommend this event and will be back again next year 

Great run! 

Lovely run through the local countryside. Peaceful with no traffic.

Really needed Jelly Babies at the water stops (only 2) as there was little local support. I was overjoyed to see a kid with a tub of sweets at 7ish miles, take your own fuel if you run this! This is the only run I’ve done on 5+yrs on just 1 jelly baby! 

Difficult to get to if you don’t drive, a friend gave me a lift thankfully.

Great t-shirt and ok medal. Finisher goodie bag contained 1 kit kat, but for the price (£22) I was happy. 

I would recommend this run to anyone, good 10 mile!
