← London Landmarks Half Marathon

I only entered this race as a friend wanted to do it, however she did not get in and I was not really interested in it and at £50 thought it was far too expensive. So, I had low expectations going in to it but in the end I really enjoyed this race.

I could see where the hefty entry fee went, there were tons of small details. A fancy medal, a wristband with pocket at the finish, lots of signage pointing out interesting landmarks along the course that gave runners something to look at. We even ran past gladiator demonstrations and there were other events for spectators too, such as free tours. Everyone got a t-shirt before the race and I like the design- very colourful, finally not just another black race shirt.

I live in london and run past the sights regularly but the course was nice and I’m sure for those who do not live here it would be very scenic. I did get rather dizzy and disoriented during the spin around the city.

infound the day very easy and simple- not too crowded, there was a warmup at Trafalgar Square for those so inclined then a short walk to the start and waves were just let off every 30 seconds. This was a bit annoying as runners of all speeds started together but the crowding cleared out quickly. Found it a lot less crowded and stressful than other races I’ve done.

There was a great atmosphere and lots of cheer squads along the embankment at the end.

All in all a fun and easy day out.
