← TTP Cambridge Half Marathon

This was my first time racing in Cambridge and a really quick flat course, perfect for any PB attempts.

Gaving paid for the Park & Ride it made it much simpler in the morning as it dropped us right off at the race village. Then it was waiting until nearer race time and getting into our specific waves/pens. Although the start was congested for the first mile at least you were surrounded by athletes running similar times.

The race itself was straight forward with the drink stations offering water and High 5 gels. I would of liked to see some kind of Lucozade/Isotonic drink as I’m used to training with one myself. They were spread out across the course and placed just when required.

I paced the race early on and grew into the second half, gradually getting quicker and quicker and finished with a time of 1:44:47. Not bad considering that I’d only run once during the week because of ‘The beast from the East’

The bag drop and pick-up was very effiecent and I know having spoken to previous entrants that it’d been a nightmare in 2017. There was no such issues in having to wait to either drop it off or pick it up after the race.

Getting the Park & Ride back was the only downside to the event. It was easy to find and get  on the bus but with all the road diversions the traffic was really bad and a 10/15min journey took over an hour. Not great when you have finished and want to get home and shower etc.

It won’t however be the last time I race Cambridge HM as the course is perfectly set for fast times, a potential PB course in the making!
