← The Mad Dash

There are a lot of good things about this event, and a few things that could do with tweaking!

First, the good stuff:  Friendly, small, local feel.  Mixed ability of runners. Registration was easy on the day.  The route is lovely (I did the 10k, not so sure I'd fancy repeating the same lap for the 20k but that's just me).  Couple of nice hills and all country lanes.  There weren't many marshalls on the route itself but they were where they needed to be. There is a good atmosphere on route, and back at the sports hall after the finish.  Tea and cake in the hall was much appreciated! Parking was easy once into the college grounds.

Things to improve:  A Marshall or two to direct parking cars would help - people were not parking very conscientiously, and more cars could have been fitted in quite easily. Perhaps a couple more marshalls along the long stretches of straight road might be helpful for traffic too.

The race is not cheap, particularly given it is not chip timed, and given the quality of the medal which is the only cheap thing about this race!  I'm not sure where all the proceeds from the race goes, but you don't actually get anything for your money.

Finally, it could do with better organisation at the finish line.  There was one lady marshalling who unfortunately was too quiet for runners to hear, so there was some confusion about which lane to get in for the 10k finish or the second lap of the 20k. People were also walking in front of the car where the race timers were sat, obscuring their view of the finishers,  and no one was moving them out the way.

This said, love the route. Enjoyed the race. Will do again but maybe in a year or two.
