← Portsmouth Coastal Half Marathon

It was a very cold start (by Portsmouth standards) but the sun helped and we were soon warmed up as we set out on the fastest stretch of the run which is the opening three miles on fast and flat tarmac, then it was across the muddy beach which failed to claim one of my shoes unlike last year! The next section was challenging, we were heading into a bitter northerly wind along a rough trail which was very narrow in places. The turn point at mile seven had a welcome feed station before we headed south on a pavement for a mile followed by grass and a trail until reaching the 'bog of doom' (Bransbury Park) and the final feed station. from there on it was pretty straightforward with tarmac running on the promenade with a great sea view although dodging the Sunday walkers became a little troublesome towards the end. A fantastic goody bag was provided, the feed stations were well stocked, navigation was easy but the first and last mile markers were in the wrong place by quite some margin. Other than that it was a great event, again.
