← ATW Bedford Running Festival

I had a bad omen when the traffic was queueing and blocking a major roundabout to get into the car parking field.

It was then quite a long (but pretty) walk along to the race village - which was a good warm-up. But this was over-run. The toilet queue went all the way around the baggage drop-off tent and people were missing their start and getting into rows about others pushing in front when people had waited 20-30 mins to use the portaloos.

The start was not signposted and not easy to find, but asking passers-by we found it. And then it was hectic.

The main route was 2 laps of circular path, which meant that faster and slower runners were constantly mixed in together - which made the running stressful and caused a lot of people shouting at others and not a nice ambiance.

There were lots of stands at the finish, but I had to shoot off, as I was worried about getting out of the car park amongst all of the crowds.

Nice medal, but I would suggest that you run the course on your own one day rather than do the race.
