Having experienced local and large scale events, from spring to full distance this has to be my favourite. The energy and enthusiasm from everyone including, spectators, marshals, staff and the race director make this my favourite event that I have ever raced. Swim Swim was in 14’C water and was led out by kayaks, the view at the turn looking towards the castle is something I’ll never forget. Bike The bike was on mostly open roads but on extremely quiet roads, I think I was passed around a dozen times and never felt busy, only one climbing section which slows the avg pace, cracking ride with plenty to see. Run Run was quite epic, through the castle estate on a variety of different terrain, I ran in Vaporflys and was grand. T 1&2 Transitions were really well marshalled by the crew and extremely helpful with bag drop, wetsuit and directing. Finish Finish line food/drink and entertainment was the best I have ever experienced, every athlete welcomed across the line. Medal, t-shirts and photos are all excellent. Verdict I strongly recommend every runner, swimmer, triathlete to try Lough Cutra at least once. I’ll definitely be back 1,000,000%
