We have a huge wastage for medals with no shows etc. If you're talking about the race entry- this is something we can look at for next year. Biodegradable spray chalk is by far the best way to mark this course as urban runs are susceptible to sabotage or cars parking in front of signs etc. Hence hardly anyone went wrong.

Hi Aimee, I'm glad you enjoyed the route but sorry that you went a bit off piste on route. This event started life out as a self navigation event, as it was already way marked by the council, albeit not very clearly. So we decided to add some wrong way markers and arrows at the junctions. We subsequently decided to add extra chalk spray arrows on the ground and added a route video available on our website (which I think you saw) and sold laminated maps at the start but one or two people still went wrong. So we stipulated that people must have either the route on a device or carry a map of the route (GPX files were provided for all runner). As we can not guarantee that on an urban route of this nature, none of our signs will be removed or obscured by vehicles, we need entrants to also take some responsibility for route finding, which we tried to stress in our pre race publicity. As we had a lot of first time trail/mixed terrain runners this year, I would agree with you that we need to stress the hazards and difficult parts of the route, which we will add to the event brochure next year.
