← Run Cheltenham

My review may be some what biased as I'm on a high for completing my first ever HM. I felt the organisers didn't advertise this race as well as they could have done so I was a bit dubious leading up to it. However race day went really well. It was easy to enter and reasonaby priced. I arrived on site at 730am and there was plenty of car parking marshalled well. There was a good atmosphere in the event village with a few stalls around and easy places to leave bags. Word of advice - look for the nice toilets on site with no queues which no one tells you about rather than queueing for the portaloos ;-) The course started from the race course with Cleeve Hill (highest point in the Cotswolds) in the background. Most roads were closed and where they weren't they were coned off with safety in mind. The atmosphere was great whilst running with lots of local support, especially children handing out jelly babies which helped! There were 5 water stations and Clif Bloks available at one of the stations. It was all road with a little bit of footpaths but all concrete. The last 2 miles were really tough as it was one big boring lap of the race course with little to no support including crossing the race course on occasions running on sand which really saped the strength out of the legs! Maybe the course ending could be reviewed for next year? At the end of the race there was a nice medal, race t-shirt, energy bars and water. Overally, would I do this again, yes.
