A local half marathon close to home for me .
Registration - Very easy and good communication
Parking - A very large car parking area roughly ten minutes walking distance from the start .
Arriving at the start and I could already see they had spent a lot of money on this half .
Toliets - Easy access and enough of them to cope with the runners .
Pacers - All local from Kenilworth running club . All wearing flags , so easy on the eye to see .
Great support at the start and enough music to get you all fired up .Today was the day I knew I was going for a PB but had heard the course had a few hills !!
Once we started the race this led us through the city centre until we hit the lovely rural countryside . I had started to settle in really early and knew I was on for a PB if, I could keep up the pace . The roads were lovely , meaning you had enough room to run freely . Everyone was cheerful and this always adds to a race .
Suddenly , the hills came thick and fast. My pace started to slow a little but I wasn't going let this bother me . Thank god the water stations were well managed and also water bottles . Excellent work from the helpers .
I had finished the race with a PB , I was buzzing but knackered . That was a lovely course but hard . The finish line was well managed and you came through the finish and guided towards the medals and goodie bags .
A nice medal and loads of protein bars . No T-shirt but who cares . I will be 100% booking again for this race .
