← Wigan 10k

might be bit biased as my hometown race but this really is a fantastic race, billed as flat it’s nit quite couple of little gradual leg sappers but not too bad

you first head out of the town centre where the pre race atmosphere is electric, you head out to the dw stadium Home of the mighty Wigan Warriors and also the Man City conquering fa cup winning Wigan athletic, here you run on to the track where you will find the water station manned by the warriors themselves and the local running club the Wigan harriers, this is more or less the half way point, it’s virtually an out and back course with a couple of small extras one being just before the finish instead of heading straight back into town you run through Wigan Park this is the only tiny bit I don’t like there is one corner which is really tight and nearly 180 degrees really takes away your momentum but like I say it’s tiny, but for some reason always dread it, from here it’s downhill in the park and round a couple of corners to the finish.

tge support on the course is fantastic in some places residents make their own water stations, the Wigan 10k medal is always one to look forward to getting its always unique to the town.

another great reason to do it it’s for a fantastic local charity “joining jack”

defo my favourite 10k event think it really proves it’s not that grim up north
