← Run in Reims

As usual medical cert needed....

Reims is about the same distance drive from the boat as is Paris, so guessed I would head down a different France motorway to see what was going on.  As usual take into account the toll roads, it was just over 20 euro in total, on the way back I normally take the local roads to shows the kids the sites and have bit of an adventure ETC.

Number pick up form the local football pitch all well run.  City itself is worth a visit for a day or two, as usual with France it is expensive to park but mostly free on Sunday for race day.

Race starts in the town center it is pretty enough around the cathedral, there is enough going on and to see to keep the family entertained, even on a Sunday while you are running around the local area.  plus plenty for cake shops for your after race food needs.

The race itself is quite unique.  You start with a loop of town then basically head out into grape vineyards that make the worlds Champagne.

For the brave one or two of the locations have little tasters will leave that up to you.  Local support around the little towns is great as is with most marathons in France.

It is quite up and down and one section which runs though the most famous of the Champagne names land turns off road and very up hill,  at which point the local runners need a pee.  maybe that is why the brand was a unique taste? anyway....

After that you are returmed back into to the town via a riverway path.  all in all a beautiful course set in rural France.
If you with in the area then I highly recommend you do it.

Bling and shirt good quality.  Not a PB but a pleasure.  Plus you are thrust a glass of Champagne as soon as you cross the line... goes well with Banana.
