← Blackpool Illuminations 5k & 10K
Fylde races certainly are value for money. Parking not too far away and enjoying the view on the sun going down before the race was fab. The course goes along and down onto the promenade alongside the beach. This is very flat and fast for 5k. There is a slight uphill and the promenade when you come back is bumpy and not as flat (they sell the course as flat and fast) but it's fab. As you are coming back along the top road/promenade it's just getting dark enough to see the illuminations they have put on just for the race.
The only real negative was because there were a huge number doing both the 5k and 10k there was just a huge pile in, no separate pens. This meant that I spent much of the first 3-4k overtaking people. The first 1k was crammed and difficult to overtake.
