← Sydney Marathon

I entered the race with much trepidation due to an injury hit training regime and also as it was my first race outside Europe. It was an early start so I could be on the start line for the 8am start and I opted to use the short run from my hotel as a warm up, the start area was pretty good with sufficient facilities for everyone and the start was not too crowded and well managed. Running across the harbour bridge was pretty amazing but most of the first seven miles were along quiet city streets, the six miles in the botannical gardens were pretty good despite the cloudy skies and then it was back to the city streets for twelve miles before going under the harbour bridge and seeing the iconic opera house across the water where we finished just under a mile later. Drinks stations and toilets were well spaced and in good supply and the post race area was pretty good making the whole experience a good one with a nice medal and shirt in the finishers bag. I would do the race again if I have the chance but it's rather a long way to travel from the UK!
