First time I have done this well established local race that was a bigger event than I had anticipated. With over 400 entrants of which I estimated at least half were vest wearing proper club runners I initially felt a little out if my league (but I usually do!). However there was a very relaxed atmosphere and despite grey/windy conditions I fared OK on what was a pleasant country road run, relatively flat, sheltered and I suspect 'fast' course for those aiming for quick times. Whilst the bunch start may have held a few of those up I was happily dragged along at a reasonable pace which I maintained for 5k before slowing a bit but overall chuffed with a quicker finish time than I'd expected/hoped for. Well marshalled & supported I'd recommend this race to anyone. It was an extra event for me this year, encouraged by a mate to join him, it suited me as part of training/prep for a triathlon next week but I will be back next year all being well!
