← Cotswold 24hr Race

The Cotswold 24 Hour Race is in Cirencester Park on the Bathurst Estate, my Race video will give you a good idea as to what you should expect. https://youtu.be/z2HRVg3-qgQ

Its a 9K lap, the challenge is to do as many laps as possible in 24 hours.

You can arrive to set up camp from Friday 5pm, & you'll need a tent to base out of. The race from midday Saturday to midday Sunday, & can be done as a Nordic Walker, Solo Runner, Pair, Team of 3-5 or Team of 6-8, and these categories can be all male, all female or mixed.

Initially you'll see the entry price & think its expensive but when you think about it, you'll be there for 2-3 days, factor in the price of an average camp site per night. You'll have access to toilets & showers, live music for when you're not on course, ice baths, live results on site throughout the race. It's a lot of logistics & is definitely value for money.

online entry is really straightforward, the course is well laid out & easy to follow, marshals are st all the key points. The water station is basic cups of water at the 4.5K point, but you pass it again at 7.6K & can get water both times. It's an efficient use of volunteers.

The Park is beautiful running through woodland paths, grassy fields & tarmac paths. The support out on course is sparce but it's made up for by the atmosphere & support in the race village where the transition area is & the baton change overs take place.

I ran 7 laps in a team of 3-5. I'd advise having a good idea how many laps you might do & take a complete fresh set of running kit for each lap, too, shorts, socks & pants. If you can additional trainers too. If you get soaked on a rainy lap you don't want that kit on again.

Protien shakes, cereal bars or easy to prepare pot porridges, pot noodles will be your friend for camp snacks but food tents are available to buy fresh hot food, it's about £5 per meal.

If you're in a team, when you're off course, sleep/nap whenever you can, even in the day. You won't get a solid sleep overnight but frequent naps helps.

one rule to note, if you start a lap before midday on the Sunday, it will count but as long as you complete it by 13:00. So you can head out at 11:59:59 & sneak in an extra lap if you can do it in an hour, & by then that's not easy lol.

It's a great race, I've done it 3 times, you'll love it if you go.
