← Hever Castle Festival of Endurance Aquathlon - Multisport Series

As usual, Castle Triathlon Series have put on another superb event. The registration, race briefing, marshalling were all spot on as usual. The location is absolutely stunning and at all times I felt that the event was well organised and any questions I had were answered by a competent friendly member of the team.

The only slight negatives were:

1. allowing runners to use headphones on the course. Parts of the course are narrow. There is enough room for two people side by side, so passing is not an issue unless 2 people are running at the same pace and have headphones on. I had to virtually scream at one competitor to move left and he didn't because he couldn't hear me. It was very inconsiderate to those people who were really trying to compete for a place or a good time. And exhausting to have to repeat the process when you are out of breath.

2. no prizes for some of the events. One of the nice things about placing is the brief but intense satisfaction of standing on the podium. After 1hr38 of some of the most gruelling swimming/running I've ever done to find I had come 3rd overall and not get the chance to stand on the podium was a little disappointing. It felt like aquathlon wasn't considered a proper event.

3. people not listening to the briefing. First time I have heard Brian have to ask people to stop talking - in every other Castle event it hasn't been an issue. (This of course is not Castle's fault). The directions given at these briefings are for our safety - why people are so rude to talk over Brian baffles me. Besides, he's hilarious.

All in all, I would absolutely do this even again!
