← MBNA Chester Marathon & MBNA Chester Metric Marathon

This was my first 26.2k race distance and the first time I've raced in Chester.

The entry price was high (I've run cheaper marathons), but the goody bag was excellent. It had a long sleeved technical T-shirt, a buff, lots of snacks, and a useful canvas bag.

The course was really interesting with a route through the beautiful city of Chester and out into the surrounding countryside. There were a few testing hills, including one close to the finish which had race angels whose sole job was to run with and encourage runners to the top, which I thought was an excellent idea.

The facilities at the race course which served as the start and finish were excellent, though the traffic getting to start was problematic and I was glad that I'd set off early.

I would definitely do the race again.
