← St Albans Half Marathon

I completed this for the second year in a row as the 1:40 pacer. To see more specific detail of my experiences as a pacer take a look at my blog.

The course is beautiful and scenic, but has a challenging profile. This year the weather made it a gorgeous day, but much hotter than ideal running weather. In fact it was very tough.

The organisers has clearly put more water stations in, but this was not enough as water was given out in cups. Many struggled with dehydration and people claimed the water was in short supply later in the race. This is a big negative. Although it would have been less of an issue if it rained like 2016, bottled water would keep runners safer, more hydrated. It is this element that dropped marks for value for money no safety.

marshals and supporters were great, but limited out in the course. This is not a criticism as the course lay out takes us into closed country roads, these are narrow and supporters wouldn't really be possible. Where there could be supporters there were.

The event village was fantastic and we all got a tee, medal, goodybag and ice lolly.

Overall a really well organised event. Well done.
