I unexpecedly won a place this year so it's fair to say I wasn't entirely prepared for the distance. If you get a place with Vitality or another organisation that has a marquee along the start promenade then great, as you have somewhere sheltered to wait for the start.
On any other day I'm sure this is a nice route, but for 2017 race day we endured high winds, rain and fog which really made everything that much harder and pretty miserable. The route had a few bottlenecks so you have to watch your footing.
I was pretty relieved to cross the finish line. The medal is nice but a tshirt would have been a welcome addition. To find out that the course hadn't been measured correctly was a bit of a blow and woud make me reluctant to pay for a place for next years race.
