← Oswestry Half Marathon

The first Oswestry Half Marathon from the British Ironwork Centre, and a really enjoyable run.

The pre-event information was thorough, with regular updates and clear instructions. Arrival and parking was easy (not sure how it would be if there had been heavy rain though). Number collection was very quick and from a friendly team. The toilets had a queue (don't they always at any event?!) but the event team were out restocking toilet roll and cleaning them.

The start is on grass and then a little on a track, before hitting the roads. Largely flat with a few little inclines to test you, and the final six miles are mostly downhill. Oh, and the mile markers are all gorilla or giraffe created at the Ironworks!

The support around the course was great. Lots of locals out encouraging, some playing music, lots of offers of water and jelly babies.

The tshirt is nice. The medal is awesome, designed and created at the ironworks. And the medal came in a presentation box! Decent goodie bag including chocolate and lucozade.

If it weren't miles from home I'd do this one again. For the first time it has run I saw no issues. Bit of a queue out of the carpark, but to be expected when you've got 1000 people leaving an event.
