← Glendue Fell Race

This is brilliant event and a great one for an introduction to fell running. Free to enter. Great informal, friendly atmosphere. 7:15 pm start, but allow for registration and a 5-10 minute walk to the start. The course starts with a steep hill over the first 0.5km, then gallows the Peninne way for 2.5-3km - a mix of grass, stone tracks and muddy paths (if it's a wet summer) and a few styles to climb over. All with some great views. Then the course heads down hill across a field to the old south Tyne railway. Then it's a return long the railway, for 3km, a very slight uphill over that distance. Very low key. No entry fee, just bring a prize to the value of £5, then everyone gets a prize, the winner getting 1st choice down to the last place getting what's left, no one bought a duff prize, mainly wine, beer and chocolates. Plus there is a lovely pie and peas supper, plus apple pie and custard, yum. A brilliant way to spend a Tuesday evening.
