Disappointed with the starting arrangements. "Gun time" is not necessary with the abundant availability of timing mat options. The provision of a mat at the start of the swim and a "chip time" for each athlete is much fairer and more appropriate for a championship event. The "fastest swimmers in first" approach could have been maintained, so as not to compromise safety and event experience with swimmers being overtaken and possibly swum over.
