this was the first time I completed Manchester, and had heard a few negatives from last year. I am pleased that all of these had been rectified and there isn't a lot I would want to change about this event.

Baggage drop was well attended and quick both pre and post event. The starting area was good and although waves starts meant the back of the field took 20 mins or so to get over the line, there weren't any hold ups and congestion was kept to a minimum. In fact I was towards the back pacing 4:45 and didn't have to slow pace once throughout the whole event.

marshals and supporters are great and in some areas it was particularly good. There were some quiet spots though which would have been lonely if not running in a pack. Water stations and gel was frequent and well attended. Would have been better with a sports drink.

The route was flat and fast with only a few slight inclines throughout. I really enjoyed the route, the only real criticism I have is about the standard of the roads, which is the only reason it's been marked down for safety. There were numerous potholes that created hazards.

Thr finish was great and smooth with a quality top and medal and a pint of Erdinger.

I will certainly be back again.
