← Tarpley 10/20

This is a lovely, well organised early season race. The 10 mile race is run along with a 20 mile race which sets off 15 minutes before. Despite having to collect race numbers on the morning (often a recipe for chaos) the registration was very straight forward and bag drop was a dream.

The marshalls were all very enthusiastic and encouraging as were the kids helping out on the water stops. There was only water available which was fine for the 10 mile.

The course is fairly undulating, which if you are from a very flat part of the UK like me, means it was a little challenging, but should be a good course for a PB for most people.

No medal at the end which was a shame, just a t shirt and a bottle of water. Bag collection was brilliant - the bag drop people had seen me coming and had my bag at the desk as I arrived to collect it.

It is worth arriving slightly early as the parking is in a field at the back of someone's house. Turning into this field is well marshalled but did cause quite a que in the village (if I was a local out for my Sunday paper I wouldn't have been impressed!!) so you should leave a bit longer than you might otherwise.

All in all this was a lovely race and one that I will definitely aim to be back for - might even be tempted into the 20 miler!
