← Bath Half Marathon

Easily the biggest race I have ever done with 15k entrants (12,700 actually ran). This causes some issues with congestion meaning that the first few miles were heavy going. That said, the organisation to get that many people ready and running on time was impressive and seamless.

The course itself is undulating (not flat - I live in a hilly area so I know undulating when I see it!) but would be quick if you are lucky enough to start with similar paced runners. Aid stations and marshals were great but look out for random cones and discarded bottles (again, a challenge given the amount of runners).

Which just leaves the support and oh that support! The first to the last step was cheered and then some by crowds several people deep. That, along with the music from the battle of the bands and various student houses with speakers / improvised instruments, made this probably the loudest and friendliest atmosphere of any race I've ever done! If running 13.1 miles can ever be a great craic, then Bath Half is as close as you'll get! Loved it, definitely one to repeat!
