← ATW Watford Half Marathon

This was the first time I have ran the Watford half, and it was a lovely event. It is organised by runners for runners. It is cheap, a challenging course, that provide a medal and drifit top to all finishers.

it is not the biggest of events, so I was not sure what to expect. On arriving I was immediately concerned by the small split start. Much of the course was narrow, which was not too bad near the front, but this may have been a problem further back. The route was also full of potholes which were a real hazard.

although a hilly route, the long downhill sections more than made up for the steep inclines, so a fast hilly course.

marshals were all great, but the rest of the crowd support was minimal. The medal was basic but good and the top was a nice touch. I was a little disappointed it to get any goodies at the end, nothing to eat, and water on the course and at the end was in cups. A bottle of water at the end would have been good.

This is not an expensive race, and certainly a good season starter, one I will go back to.
