← Windsor Winter 5km, 10km & 15km Run

Well timed for spring race training and fast and flat giving great PB potential (I took well over 2 minutes off my previous 10k best so guess the marathon training is paying off). Dorney lake gives enough to keep it interesting, even on a lapped run, and the fact you can view the entire 2k home straight helped with pushing on in the final stages.

Organisation was not without issues though. Race instructions said not to arrive prior to 11:30 due to the duathlon taking place that morning. This simply did not give enough time to get everyone registered meaning a later than planned start. There was also a lack of loos - I think six for the entire event. Again, massive queues and creative use of bushes necessary! Lastly, I get it's not great to stand around marshalling in sub zero temperatures but a little smile and wave goes a long way; it might even have warmed the marshalls up a little!

Top tips:

1. Run strong, run fast - the course will support you!

2. Get there a little earlier than instructed. It's possible to park 'off course' and walk up so you don't get stuck waiting to register.

3. Have a wee before you get there!
