← RunThrough Cheshire 10k - October

It's thanks to Cheshire East council that this event was allowed to go ahead as they believed in the safety package the RunThrough team had put together and had already proven in previous events leading up to this.

859 runners decented on Arley Hall. All seemed quite normal except you had to wear a mask around the events village. The village consisted of registration, clothing, enquiries and coffee vans.

To enter the event you had to give an estimate on the time you thought you would run the race. I was in wave 6 which was 49-52 minutes. When the race started each wave move up to the start queue. The idea was to keep in pairs, socially distanced and walk up to the line before starting to run. This mean't there was a socially distanced gap between runners setting off.

Unfortunately some "elite" runners seemed to suffer with hearing loss and so caused an issue that mean't the start had to be reset. Funny that everyone else heard the rules clear enough!

The course, having been changed to be totally in the Cheshire East area, was an out and back instead of the usual loop. There was just one incline out and back although this was close ot the start it did mean there was a nice decent to the final sprint finish.

Water station was provided at the turn around point.  Plenty of supportive marshalls around the course. Plenty of signage too.

You couldn't have asked for a more safer race in my opinion! Once finished you had to keep walking, no stopping allowed. Pick up your bottle of water, medal, the famous flapjack, protein bar and great t-shirt which was available in yellow and blue. Free photos appeared later on their Facebook page.

RunThrough really do know how to put on great events. Congratulations to the team and the marshalls for such a grand job!
