I sent the following to the organiser, disappointed that it hasn't been acknowledged.
Before I leave a review I would just like to say how much I love the End of Season Aquabike at Lake 62. This was my 3rd year taking part, and my 4th year at the event (my husband usually does the triathlon).
I always find it a lovely, friendly and supportive event. It's well organised and great fun.
Unfortunately this year I was extremely disappointed with the transition area, especially with the lack of room. We had 3 bikes within a metre therefore all three sets of handlebars were touching. I couldn't get beside my bike to put my cycling gear. I tried to face my bike the other way but was told by a marshal not to. Definitely not Covid compliant.
I told that as we were being set off 30 seconds apart we wouldn't be in transition at the same time! I overtook at least two people who went before me. So inevitably we were there at the same time. I couldn't get changed easily because my stuff was the other side of the bike and I had to go under the rack further down to get it. I couldn't unrack my bike easily as I had to reach over my handlebars to unhook it, trying desperately not to touch the bikes either side. I was not at all comfortable with the space, in previous years I have had much more room.
My husband has competed in a couple of events this year, including Blenheim today where there were only 3 bikes per rack, so that there would be no cross-contamination. I appreciate you don't have the same amount of room, but I was very surprised that I had less space than previous years.
All that said. I love your lake and I surprised myself on the longer bike ride. I'm not an athlete by any standard, I just like taking part and your friendly event is just the place for that.
I thanked most of your marshals on the bike route but I find it hard to thank your water safety crew 😂 please thank them all for me, they do a cracking job.
