First time at this distance for a number of years. Start point can get very congested as it starts on the embankment outside the park, but once off that straight and through the park things open up. Open roads give plenty of space for all levels of runner so no need to be nervous if you're a first timer. Great marshals en route offering plenty of encouragement. Some very long stretches of open roads with a few undulating sections but again, nothing to be too nervous about. Once through Victoria Park by the City Airport, you head back to the city in the shadow of Samson & Goliath, the iconic H&W shipyard cranes. Through the city streets and up the hill along Falls Rd before turning left back down the hill at the Royal Victoria hospital. Enjoy this downhill section. Back through the city streets and head along Ormeau Rd back towards the park. Over the Lagan River bridge and turn left, back onto the embankment, alongside the park. Final km to the park gates and in to the finish line.....with local radio presenters announcing your name, if you're lucky as I was. For spectators, taxis are a better way to get from point to point around the course. Enjoy the day and then relax with local bars and restaurants and amazing East Belfast people. Is it any wonder I live here now.
