← Having A Mare 10km & 5km (formerly Dark Horse)

It's was the first Dark horse 5 And 10k race. There is no parking at the race on the day but a park and ride bus was put on at a cost of only £2.50 return.  It take 10 min to get there where you then have a flat walk though the woods to the race village. It's only a 10 minute walk.. once there you go to the wave you put down to pick your race number up.You then just had to wait till you had your start time but they had music playing a big fire to warm your self and you could get hot drinks. When it was time for your wave to go you be called to the start where you get the race briefing which was very helpful as there was so many different surfaces .Mud tarmac and a stone's track with woods and grass.  Once you off you head though the woods to come out on to grass paths to Bath race course. This is when you on the road  for 3 or 4 minutes till you back on the grass. Next up you have a flatish muddy track to go along till you turn  to head down hill. This is the point you see all the lights of the city of Bristol as far as you can see. Its worth seeing. When you get to the bottom of the hill you run a cross the valley to run back up hill. Nearly at 5k now you just got more grass and woods to run this is when you get to water stop. You repeat the same course again till you slip off to run for the finish where photos are taken as you cross the line. Head back to the race village to pick up your medal and goodies. If you had order hot food after it was waiting for you and you could have a beer and finish the night off by the fire. Back on the bus to the park and ride then home. I'm beginning  to really enjoy trail running. I definitely do this again next year. It was a shame the weather  for the day races as it been great to see the brilliant views over Bristol a cross to Wales.
