This is the first time I'd taken part in a Maverick race, and the recommendations I'd had were well founded. The organisers really take the runners' needs into consideration, with flexibility even when running the route as to the distance you want to participate in.
The marshals were all very supportive and well placed on the route, and the aid stations on easily the hottest day of the year were well stocked with cool drinks and fruits, which were very much appreciated.
The route took in some beautiful views across the South Downs Way, which included some challenging hills, but that's what you sign up for in this part of the country! I'll be back for more.
