· 2019 Half Marathon ·

First time for me having completed the marathon there on a few occasions. Initial impressions were a tad disappointing as finding the right start pen was just as confusing as it is for the marathon. You're mingling with supporters and all sorts and the signs just aren't clear. I was lucky in that I saw a pacer and followed his flag to the start.

Once the race started, it was a trip down memory lane for me. As a Manchester lad, going round parts of Old Trafford and Chorlton were great. The course doesn't have much in the way of landmarks and views - but then it doesn't pretend to. I know the area well so had no expectations for that. Support on the course was fab, despite the grotty weather but then Manchester folk are used to that. Great support from the Chorlton folk particularly where the volume noticably increases - at a time where you probably need it more.

It was a lovely touch to have signs welcoming you to various parts of the course, occasionally with an intro to what is housed there or unique to the area. It really gives the feel of a local race.

After the race, the village was well organised but it was a struggle to get out via Old Trafford as you had to cross the finishers. The team were clear in their comms and this was appreciated.

All in all I would definately come back again and do this - you get what you pay for - Manchester weather, Manchester streets and Manchester enthusiam!
