Second marathon for me and what an amazing race.

The course is a beauty and what it lacks in support it makes up for in beauty. Starting off round the town centre of Chester you're soon off into the contrysideand and 7 miles of it are even in Wales! Mostly flat however there are some killer hills towards the end, mile 24 I'm looking at you, however being back in Chester these are well supported and there are plenty of jelly babies for those who make it to the top. Support in Chester and through the little villages you pass through is good however being out on country roads means it can get a bit lonely at times.

The race itself is almost perfectly organised. I had no issue at all picking up another race number after mine didn't arrive in the post and also they made sure the race was on after lots of rain caused the racecourse, the original start and end, to be unusable. The only fault was the 30 minute queue for the bag drop at the end, queues are inevitable however standing in line for half an hour is the last thing you want after finishing so hopefully next year this will get sorted out.

Nice chunky medal, best goodie bag ever - packed full of tasty treats and great finishers top. I would fully recommend this race both for first timers and seasoned marathoners!
