← Bullock Smithy

First time of entering the Bullock despite living on its doorstep for nearly two decades. Organised by the 3rd Hazel Grove Scouts the Bullock Smithy Hike has been run/walked annually since 1976.

It's self navigation so you need to be able to use a map. Or recce the route. Preferably both. They supply a recommended route but as with most LDWA / trail events based around visiting checkpoints, the important thing is to have visited all CPs in the correct order. So the 56 miles is a broad estimate - I clocked up just less than 58 miles.

First half is in the Dark Peak. So you get most of the 8500ft of climb in the first 28ish miles. The second half, in the White Peak is more runable.

14 checkpoints in total. Fab marshals and loads of support.

It's a great way to experience the Peak District National Park. Highly recommended.
