Friendly marshalls, interesting point-to-point course, with some landmarks along the way. And Edinbugh is a great city for pre and post food and drink.

However, I would not do this race again for one reason - the post-race logistics/travel back to Edinburgh is hopeless. Sorry to be so critical, but having finished the race, you're faced with a 25 min hike up the hill to a set of coaches designed to transfer you back to city centre. The queue to get on the coaches was 35 mins - they were bizarrely loaded one after another rather than simultaneously (that is just plain stupid). Then the trip on the coach takes 45 mins.

Net result - it took longer to get back to the city centre from the end point than it did for me to run the half marathon in the first place! That's simply not good enough as a transfer proposition, and I've never experienced anything that bad in 22 years of running halves, in UK and abroad.

So I cannot recommend this race, and I would urge organisers to completely rethink how that manage this process -it is simply not fit for purpose.
