← Wokingham Half Marathon

This was my first ever half marathon and pretty popular locally.  The profile looked reasonably flat, which is why I chose this one.  Allocated parking facilities were free approximately 10 minutes from the race HQ.  On arriving at the venue, there were lots of groups of different running clubs, all wearing club colours.  You start in Cantley Park from there the route heads out into Wokingham on closed roads and into the countryside. There are a few slopes to contend with as you go over the motorway bridges but nothing major.

There was a decent amount of support in the early stages of the race but in the countryside not really much apart from the marshals. The marshals were great, all encouraging. Plenty of refreshment stations with plastic cups of water were available. I finished in just over 2:15. At the venue, there was a free cup of tea for participants, and a hot food stall if you wanted something more. All in all, I enjoyed the race and the atmosphere was great. Fellow runners encouraged and you received a medal at the end. I would definitely do it again.
