This was my first ever race, and longest distance to date.  The run starts in Higginson Park by the River Thames at one end of the town.  The route takes you through the town center, along the high street, then near a business park, before it circles back through a residential area towards the town center and where you started. I would describe the route as a single lap course, with a quite few turns due to the direction the roads take which is run on mainly on closed roads. It's reasonably flat although there is a slight uphill section about 2/3 of the way through but nothing major.

A car park is located next to the park, this does have limited spaces so advise to get there in good time. Alternative parking is available in the other town car parks a short walk away.  There is a cafe in the park next to public toilets, additional portaloos were available as well.

The race is chipped timed. At the end of the race, I received a goody bag, medal, and a t-shirt. Unfortunately, there were not any extra large sizes left, so I had to settle for whatever size they had!

Overall, it was an enjoyable experience with some crowd support along the way.  Shame about the T-shirt!
