← The Maverick Adidas Terrex Original East Sussex

My first time at a Maverick Race so didn't know what to expect. The instructions sent out for parking were clear and the University easy to find.

Registration in the sports centre, right by the start/finish a simple affair and nice it was closed for the race apart from competitors. Post race showers available which is always a bonus.

I didn't pay much attention to the briefing which probably explains why I missed the turn for the 15K route and ended up doing the 23! My fault, not the organisers. They were very generous and moved me up to the long distance category.

A well organised and friendly race all round with a generic medal for all 3 distances.

The course is trail and being on the South Downs there isn't much flat. Can be a bit congested in the first mile or so if you are quicker get near the front.

As it was a hot day the 3 aid stations were appreciated and for a short race well appointed with fruit, sweets and drink.

The 23K is a good test, not overly technical but hilly enough.

I'd recommend and will probably be back.
