← The Harry Hawkes Summer Raceday

This is a great locally organised race in South West London. There are two events - the 10k which starts at 08:00 and the 10 mile which starts at 09:30. There race village was set up along the perimeter of the local cricket groud and was extremely well organised with race number pickup, self service bag drop and portaloos. The queues for the portaloos were a bit long closer to the race start time.

The race is run on open roads, pavements and the river towpath. Although the roads were open to traffic we were still able to run on quieter roads through the residential areas as it was still early on a Sunday morning. All the marshalls did an excellent job in ensuring we were able to cross the roads safely. There were many signs around and the course advising motorists and residents of runners in the road and all the mile markers were in the correct places. There were drink stations along the course offering water in cups.

I would definitely recommend the race as an easy fun run on a Sunday morning.
