I took part in the Full Tour of Tameside which, if you don't know, is 4 races in 4 consecutive days. You can enter each of the 4 races individually but I think you would lose some of the uniqueness of the event - as well as rankings and results for each race, there's an overall leader board for the Full Tour.

This review focuses on the individual race.

The second race is the Hell on the Fell race.

It's a bit of a misoner as over half of the route is on the road. Although thankfully the majority of the road section is uphill to make up for it! Much of the road section is in a built-up part of Stalybridge which doesn't really benefit from the views, but once you reach the Wagon & Houses public house and head onto the single track road, the scenery opens out. From here the road gradually reduces to a track and then you're finally off-road.

The Hill itself is a decent run and then the last mile section is the descent. Not particularly technical but the appropriate footwear was definitely track or fell shoes (I wore fell, but it was a coin toss due to the amount of tarmac involved).

The pre-race brief was audible but we really just wanted to get going rather than going through another impractical warm-up (it was a 15 minute walk from the car park to the start anyway so plenty of opportunity to warm up!) - the weather was looking decidedly threatening (although in fact it remained mostly dry for the race)

Medals at the end and water, all chip timed. Loads of support.
