This race starts at Albert Dock and continues on past The Beatles monument.  From there you run through Liverpool and carry on through Chinatown and on to the parks - Princes Park and Sefton Park.  It continues on to the Mersey riverfront (which stretches on forever and was windy) and then back to the Exhibition Centre for the finish.  There were bands along the route and a high point was running down Penny Lane.  The weather on the day was rain showers on and off and windy by the river.  I ran without earphones as I wanted to hear the bands and take in the atmosphere and realised after the event that I think this impacted on my performance.  I found the riverfront very long and windy and a high point was a DJ playing 'Rolling on the river' by Tina Turner and this encouraged me to pick up my pace a bit.  I admit that I was struggling near the end and felt emotional.  After the finish line I didn't feel very well and looking back I think this is because I did not use any gels/lucozade that were provided at the stations.  I enjoyed the race but don't think I would do it again.  I had a good time celebrating after in The Cavern, live music and everyone singing, good atmosphere.  Scousers are friendly people.
