← Dukeries 30 / 40

So i've done several marathons, however this was my 1st attempt at an Ultra.

I chose to complete the 40mile route - if I was going to attempt an ultra I wanted it to be a good effort.

So after completing the course - im kind of hooked and already looking for the next. Am ultra is pretty different to a marathon. Not really about the time, more getting the miles in, enjoying the sights and other runners.

This was a local event for me and very well organised.

Loads of briefing info before - parking on the day, and off we went.

Limited support round the course but you can expect that. the aid stations are amazing and the support people cannot help you enough. They fill your drinks bottles / bags, give you food, make you drinks and just give you lots of support - its brilliant.

I suffered with cramp at mile 34 and 1 of the aid station guys massaged it and sorted it and got me going away.

Flat course and super friendly people - I cant encorage this enough, i'll be back again next year.

Its tough - no doubt about that, about mile 36 I forgot my name, day, time etc but just get to the finish and enjoy the amazing soup.
