← St illtyds Trail Race

This is my second year doing this race and almost everyone I spoke to seems to be returning runners, those that were running it for the first time had heard how friendly and beautiful it was from others.

The course is a mixture of road, path, forest single track, and farmers fields. It's got quite a lot of climbs, but as an out-and-back you get to do all your ascents and descents in reverse. There's a lovely wood full of bluebells and wonderful views down to Pembrey after the first climb. The three aid stations (two of which you hit twice) are clearly stocked by ultra runners and the start/finish is at the Yacht club so you can grab a beer and cheer (or heckle) your friends into the finish.

Highlights of this year: having to duck and roll under an electric fence and through a herd of cows, heckling Nathan during the race briefing, seeing and cheering my friends at the turnaround point, and cwtching the spectator's dogs.
